Dear Colleagues,

As Chairman, I am pleased to invite you to participate in the XXIV World Congress of the International Union of Angiology, which will be held from 21 to 25 April 2010, in the Sheraton Hotel of Buenos Aires.

Cardiovascular disease is still one of the main causes of morbimortality in the West. The permanent evolution of diagnosis and treatment provokes changes that force us to be regularly updated in order to obtain better results in our specialty. That is why this Congress will gather the world’s top leaders in Vascular Surgery, Endovascular, Phlebolymphology, and for the first time, Cardiac Surgery. You will learn about new recommendations and advances in the different areas of cardiovascular pathology.

We have chosen the city of Buenos Aires as the venue for this meeting, as it combines science, culture and hospitality. It is one of the most visited cities in the world, and in 2010 will celebrate its bicentenary.

I hope you will enjoy our city and the high scientific level of our congress, organized together with the Argentine College of Cardiovascular and Endovascular Surgeons, the Argentine College of Venous and Lymphatic Surgery, the Society of Phlebology and Lymphology of Buenos Aires, the Argentine Society of Phlebology and Lymphology, the Argentine College of Interventional Cardiologists, the Latin American Chapter of the International Union of Angiology and the Latin American Chapter of Venous Forum.

It will be an honor to welcome you all in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Sincerely yours,

Roberto Simkin
Congress President

Dear Colleagues,

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to participate in the XXIV World Congress of the International Union of Angiology in Buenos Aires, Argentina on April 21-25th, 2010.

From its establishment in 1958, the International Union of Angiology has traditionally met around the world. It is a unique and great opportunity for angiologists from all continents to exchange opinions and share knowledge as well as gain experience from different cultures.
The challenges of the 21st century, owing principally to the impact of the technology-driven evolution as well as the information explosion, create a new scenery in the vascular field. The IUA should continue to focus on the fundamentally significant areas of medical education and the spread of knowledge. The multidisciplinary and multinational-multicontinental character of the IUA provides a unique forum for fruitful discussion and exchanging experience between physicians dealing with vascular pathology. I believe that this structure helps vascular physicians to adapt easily to the changing world and facilitates them to follow the rapid pace of the developments in vascular patients’ management.
Professor Simkin, Chairman of the Congress and President elect of our Society is working hard to prepare a congress which will fill everybody’s scientific expectations. He has planned an outstanding series of Plenary Lectures and Symposia encompassing advanced clinical and basic science data of current interest to all those involved in vascular disease’s management. The distinguished international faculty participating in the congress is going to address and discuss the recent information, controversies and future directions.
I am convinced that this will be an exceptional opportunity to update our knowledge and to have unforgettable moments in the beautiful and historic capital of Argentina.
I look forward to welcoming you to Buenos Aires.

Elias Bastounis
President of the International Union of Angiology
